It’s been barely a week since The Daily launched and in that time, the unlikely Yahoo! have positioned themselves as major competition. It began with the hefty acquisition of Huffington Post, and continues with the announcement of Livestand.
Livestand will be Yahoo!’s foray into the tablet news market. A customised news experience that will be available on both iOS and Android.
So here’s the plan:
- Buy popular online news source
- Launch tablet news platform
- Make money?
At least consumers will get some more competition (and hopefully innovation) in this space.
