About
Sam Barillaro is a digital professional with a background spanning strategy and execution: digital strategy, AI, data, content, UX, accessibility, platform management. He cares about digital experiences that are genuinely useful, well-made, and honest about what they are.
Why The Tech Edit
Most writing about consumer tech sits at one of two ends: launch-day hype, or thinly-disguised marketing. The Tech Edit is the other thing. The slower, hands-on version. The pieces you only really get from running something for a few months and noticing what holds up.
This is where Sam writes about home setups, AI workflows that actually save time, and small projects that began as curiosity and ended up running on hardware in a spare room. Articles lean towards practical detail rather than predictions, with enough specificity that you could rebuild the thing yourself if you wanted to.
Approach
Articles publish occasionally rather than on a schedule. Each one is drafted and edited over several sittings before going up. The writing tries to be honest about the pitfalls and the learning curve, not just the polished outcome: the configurations that broke, the assumptions that turned out wrong, the bits that took longer than they should have. Tech rarely works the first time, and there’s not much value in writing as if it does.
